Toxic Substances Control Act
This Act, Toxic Substances Control Act (TOSCA) -- Public Law 94-469 (15 U.S.C.
2601-2671; 90 Stat. 2003), as amended by P.L. 97-129 (95 Stat. 1686), P.L. 98-80
(97 Stat. 485), P.L. 98-620 (98 Stat. 3358), P.L. 100-368 (102 Stat. 829-833),
and P.L. 100-481 (102 Stat. 1156) authorized the Environmental Protection Agency
to obtain data from industry on health and environmental effects of chemical
substances and mixtures. If unreasonable risk or injury may occur, EPA may
regulate, limit or prohibit the manufacture, processing, commercial
distribution, use and disposal of such chemicals and mixtures.
Public Law 99-519 (100 Stat. 2970-2989) added requirements for routine and
emergency evaluations and removals of asbestos hazards in schools and public
buildings.
Public Law 100-551 (102 Stat. 2755) established a program for abatement of
indoor radon gas hazards.
