Marion Nestle criticizes the food industry for a number of misdeeds, ranging from global food companies, their alleged control of federal agencies and the failure of government and the private sector to be on top of some of the recent health issues.
What is lacking is any sense of perspective. The US feeds a large number of people at a low cost. It has one of the most safe food supplies in the world and produces food for developing nations.
With a food system as great as ours, there is, of course, going to be occurences which were not addressed as early as possible.
So what, no system is perfect.
