The Chairman of the FCC, Michael Powell, has set up a Web log, or blog, in order to get the high tech industry, “to quit flying below the radar”, and start having input on regulating the airwave frequencies and wireless technology. Powell does not want to heavily regulate the industry in fear of stifling innovation. However, so far the blog is being used for a much wider range of topics than anticipated, including censorship and disapproval of the FCC.
"I am looking forward to an open, transparent and meritocracy-based communication -- attributes that bloggers are famous for!" Powell said, adding he wanted to get out of "the Beltway Washington world where lobbyists filter the techies."
FCC officials were not immediately available to comment on how often Powell would be interacting on his blog.
