The FDA has approved that the botulism toxin Botox, primarily used to fight wrinkles, can also be used to prevent excessive sweating. This approval was granted after Botox was found to stimulate an inhibitor in sweat glands. However, the FDA warned that people should not automatically have the surgery in the presence of heavy sweating, as it may be a sign of a more serious disease.

"Dermatologists have long offered Botox to hyperhidrosis sufferers, but FDA approval means maker Allergan Inc. now can advertise the use. Allergan says price varies geographically but the average cost is $750 for both arms."
