The FDA has approved genetically modified wheat produced by Monsanto. The agency found the wheat to be safe for human and livestock consumption. Earlier this month Monsanto said it had ended plans to produce the first genetically modified wheat and withdrew it submission for approval from all regulatory agencies except the FDA.
“What we concluded was that all safety and regulatory issues had been adequately addressed," FDA spokesman Mike Herndon told Reuters.
