According to the Wall Street Journal, the FDA is expected to start labeling antidepressant medications with new labels showing a correlation between the drugs and suicidal tendencies in children and teenagers. An advisory committee will meet next month to recommend language for the label, and assess if other regulatory action is necessary.

“The newspaper said that according to a draft version of the analysis, which focused on 25 studies of nine drugs, children and teenagers who took the drugs were 1.78 times as likely to exhibit behavior or thoughts that appeared suicidal, compared with those who took placebos. “

“It is not clear whether changes would affect all of the drugs, which generated different results in the analysis, or whether each drug might get its own label, the newspaper said.”
