The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has submitted to OMB an ICR on collecting biometric information from non-immigrant visa holders under the U.S. Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology Program (US-VISIT). Individual aliens and non-immigrant visa holders will need to provide biometric information at US air and sea ports of entry and departure. DHS estimates that the total number of individuals required to submit the information will be 24 million. The collection is stated to be necessary to comply with the Border Security Act and the USA PATRIOT Act.
