The Kentucky Legislature has passed a bill authorizing the creation of a statewide health network containing patient’s information electronically. The information will be available to physicians, hospitals and insurers. Other states such as Delaware, Florida, and Rhode Island are also considering the same option. However, there are still funding issues that need to be solved in order to implement the program.
"Obviously, with anything of this type of nature, scope and magnitude you're talking about tremendous issues with respect to formulating governance at the state level."
"And funding is always a big issue with all of these initiatives. These are not inexpensive endeavors by any stretch of imagination."
