Michael Chertoff, Secretary of Homeland Security, spoke yesterday to a critical infrastructure conference, calling on the need to refocus on cybersecurity. DHS will focus extensively on security, and will also work with private contractors to develop new security technologies.
Further, Chertoff called on private companies to step up their security efforts, but said that the government needs to provide greater incentives for doing so. One idea he floated was to exchange development of security methods for limitations on legal liability from future lawsuits.
