The FCC is getting unprecedented opposition to its media ownership rule. Consequenlty it is not unusual for Beltway specialists to ask questions about the future of the FCC Chairman.
We believe such discussions are counter productive. The Chairman, and his supporters on the Commission, made a decision. If the public or the Congress differ, they have a wide range of choices available, any where from imposing the Congressional Review Act, to offering separate amendments, to imposing the rigiors of the Data Quality Act.
The remedy is worse than the disease; do not institute a chaotic scene at a regulatory commission when they do something unpopular, use established procedures for correcting it.
