"St. Petersburg College has received $800,000 in federal funding to establish the National Center for Cybersecurity Education at the EpiCenter.
The bulk of the funding, secured for SPC by Congressman C.W. “Bill” Young through the U.S. Department of Defense, will go toward development of mostly online courses in cybersecurity and computer crime investigation, said Carol Copenhaver, senior vice president of Educational and Student Services. A new four-year degree program in cybersecurity could evolve as early as next year as a result of the center and will be the first operation of its kind in the Southeast."
