Phenylephrine Bitartrate is being added to over-the-counter nasal decongestant drug products to produce an “effervescent dosage form.” “An effervescent dosage form is intended to be dissolved in water before taking by mouth.” This is an ongoing review of over-the-counter drug products being done by the FDA.
