08/07/03 #2 Cape Cod Opposition To Wind Farms: Environmental Hypocrites?
As reported on this forum earlier, there is a proposal to build a wind farm on Cape Cod to convert windpower to energy. The proponents say this proposal is an environmentalists dream come true. Why then are "environmental" groups in the area opposing the plan?
The Boston Globe concludes there is nothing complex about the opposition, they are simply hypocrites.
"Apparently not. The hypocrisy of some opponents is breathtaking. The poster child of this group is Robert F. Kennedy Jr., senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council who came out of the blocks castigating this plan because, among other things, it would spoil the lovely body of water he has enjoyed all his life. I'd probably feel the same way, but that doesn't make it a defensible position if you are serious about a sane national energy policy."
