A member of the Senate has introduced legislation which would give USDSA greater regulatory authority over the meat supply. The legislation is an outgrowth
of the Mad Cow Disease in Canada. The question to be addressed is what failures are their in the current regulatory system. Advocates of additional regulation
have the responsibility of making the case--the burden of proof is on them. We have not seen any such evidence.
