OMB POLICY STATEMENTS
OMB Wants Agencies To Get Green, Use Alternative Fuels
The Office of Management and Budget wants agencies to reduce the number of vehicles that are exempted from having to meet alternative fuel requirements up to 10 percent this year. The proposed reductions are included in draft guidelines for the 2009 transportation scorecard that are being distributed to agencies. To get to green, OMB requires agencies to use alternative fuel 95 percent of the time in vehicles not exempted by waivers. Most agencies are red because they failed to meet minimum performance requirements. Only two departments, Labor and Transportation, achieved green ratings on the 2008 transportation management scorecard issued in January.
