OMB POLICY STATEMENTS
OMB Sets Rules For Innovation Competitions
The Office of Management and Budget likes the idea of running competitions to spur innovation. OMB held a competition in which the winning Securing America Value and Efficiency (SAVE) recipient gets an opportunity to meet President Obama and having the idea be included in the fiscal 2011 budget request. The SAVE Award has received more than 38,000 entries, and the winner, Nancy Fincher of the Veterans Affairs Department, will meet with President Obama later this year. Additionally the Veterans Administration, Army and NASA are also holding competition to figure how to improve how their agencies work. OMB is expecting more agencies to use competitions in the future and have issued guidance report detailing how they could work.
