Orcas Threaten Stellar Sea Lion's Survival
The Stellar sea lion is a listed species under the Endangered Species Act. The National Marine Fisheries Service has published for public comment the Agency's draft revised recovery plan for the sea lion's western and eastern distinct population segments. According to the NMFS Federal Register notice, killer whales are one of the major threats to the Stellar sea lion's survival. The orcas like to eat the sea lions. Public comments on the draft revised recovery plan are due by July 24, 2006.
