NMFS Schedules Public Hearings for Beluga Whale ESA Listing
On April 20, 2007, the National Marine Fisheries Service proposed listing the Cook Inlet beluga whale as an endangered species under the Endangered Species Act. NMFS extended the public comment period on the proposal to August 3, 2007. NMFS received requests for public hearings on the proposed listing.
NMFS recently announced that it will hold two public hearings on the proposed listing:

On July 19, 2007, in Homer, Alaska; and
-
On July 20, 2007, in Anchorage, Alaska.
