An Open Letter about GSA Spending
Winston's Note: Attached below is a communication from the General Manager of The National Conference Center, a federal contractor. The letter, printed on June 12th on the Fed Page of the Washington Post near Al Kamen's In The Loop column, was subtitled "Let's Seek Long Term Solutions, Not Shortsighted Reactions."

Winston, while not endorsing any given conference facility, is championing the statement: "Sweeping changes on travel is shortsighted. Virtually all well-run organizations consider training critical to their success. We believe our federal government and military need to employ this same strategy."

Federal travel is an essential part of civil service. It is in the national interest for federal employees to travel for training and coordination, public outreach and education, and for participating in events hosted by diverse stakeholders.
