Employment Standards Administration Issues New General Wage Determination Decision The Employment Standards Administration, Wage and Hour Division, Department of Labor, has issued a new general wage determination decision that specifies the basic hourly wage rates and fringe benefits for laborers and mechanics employed on construction projects of a similar character and in certain designated localities. These new rates were determined based on information obtained by the Department of Labor from its study of local wage conditions and data made available from other sources. These rates and fringe benefits constitute the minimum rate at which laborers and mechanics of specified classes working on Federal and federally assisted construction projects can be paid. General wage determination decisions contain no expiration dates and are effective from their date of notice in the Federal Register, or on the date written notice is received by the agency, whichever is earlier. The specific general wage determinations for all the specified localities are available in the Government Printing Office (GPO) document entitled, "General Wage Determinations Issued Under the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts." This publication is available at each of the 50 Regional Government Depository Libraries across the country.
