Three sentenced for trafficking contraband cigarettes in Mobile County

Shameka Mallory, 40; Shahid Abassi, 42; and Sakhoeuth Khan, 33, were each sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay restitution for trafficking contraband cigarettes at the Quick Stop Grocery located at 353 Cody Road.

They were three of five people arrested in an undercover operation by the Mobile Police Departmet and ATF in 2018

Police seize truck loaded with 6-million contraband cigarettes in Cardinal

The tractor trailer was headed westbound on Highway 401.



The Cornwall Regional Task Force (CRTF) has charged a 62-year-old Quebec man after uncovering 6-million contraband cigarettes inside a tractor trailer in Cardinal.

Officers stopped a westbound truck on Highway 401 near Exit 730 on March 26, around 10 p.m., and upon inspection of the vehicle, they found a massive quantity of unstamped cigarettes in its trailer.

Paramilitaries linked to Irish border cigarette and alcohol contraband find

The plant was uncovered inside a warehouse in north Louth/GARDA PRESS

Gardai believe republican paramilitaries were behind a cigarette-manufacturing and alcohol-bottling plant uncovered inside a warehouse in north Louth yesterday morning. The plant was capable of producing contraband with a street value of €25m a year.

The raid was carried out by the cross-border joint action task force, comprising gardai and customs officers stationed in the border counties.
