The University of Washington publishes a website with international news and articles on marine protected areas.  This site includes a “list of conferences relevant to sustainable ocean planning and marine ecosystem-based management.” The current list is available here.

U.S. and Cuba Sign MOU on Marine Protected Areas

On November 18, 2015, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Park Service  signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Cuba’s Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment . The MOU aims to facilitate joint efforts concerning science, stewardship, and management related to Marine Protected Areas. The MOU also includes a sister MPA program to foster conservation and understanding of natural marine resources in both countries, sharing technical and scientific data, and promoting education and outreach initiatives.
