Chinese telecom firms Huawei and ZTE pose a threat to U.S. national security and members and their staffs should be wary of doing business with lobbyists who represent them, GOP Rep. Frank Wolf wrote in a recent letter sent to every representative.

Wolf, who chairs a House Appropriations subcommittee, cited concerns in a letter dated Tuesday that “these Chinese state-directed companies have gone on a lobbying blitz lately, as the U.S. national security community and Congress have launched investigations into their potential threat.”

This isn’t the first time Wolf has written critically about Huawei. Earlier this year, he wrote lobbying firm Sidley Austin calling on the shop to drop Huawei as a client. He’s also written the Obama administration seeking a sanction against the firm.

In April, William Plummer, Huawei’s vice president of external affairs, wrote to the Alley, rebutting Wolf. “None of the tired disinformation presented in Representative Wolf’s letter is accurate,” he wrote.
