The Faculty of Arts is composed of the Tasmanian College of the Arts and Schools of Humanities and Social Sciences. The School of Social Sciences is an interdisciplinary School that offers an exciting range of research and teaching in Sociology and Criminology, Social Work, Politics and International Relations, and Journalism, Media and Communications.

The School of Social Sciences is seeking to appoint an academic in Transnational Crime and/or Cybercrime.  Applicants will be required to have teaching and research experience in Police Studies, Criminology or related disciplines that can extend the School and Faculty’s capacity in this area.

In the role you will:

  • Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Co-ordinate, prepare and deliver lectures, conduct tutorials and student consultations in undergraduate and postgraduate units in Criminology and/or Police Studies, and participate in the assessment and examination of students.
  • Undertake high quality research of national and increasingly of international standing, secure external competitive and other funding, publish research findings and contribute to the successful supervision of research higher degree students.

You will be employed on a full-time continuing basis.

To be considered, you will have:

  • A PhD or equivalent in Criminology, Police Studies and/or International Relations.
  • Demonstrated teaching expertise, including curriculum design and delivery, in the field of Transnational Crime and/or Cybercrime.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise research higher degree student supervision to completion.
  • Evidence of nationally recognised research and worthwhile contributions to the field of Criminology, Police Studies and/or International Relations.

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $125,486 comprising base salary within the range of $90,962 – $107,253 plus 17% superannuation.
