EDSP Public Discussion

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is initiating a 60-day public review and comment on a draft Information Collection Request for collecting Tier 2 test data for a subset of pesticides (referred to by the Agency as List 1 chemicals) that have the potential to interact with the endocrine system. The ICR ultimately has to be reviewed and approved by OMB before EPA can enforce the Tier 2 information collection requirements. Click here for EPA’s ICR.

This document describes EPA’s final EDSP policies and procedures for requiring Tier 1 screening of chemicals for which EPA may issue EDSP test orders pursuant to section 1457 of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and section 408(p) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA).These final policies and procedures supplement the EDSP policies and procedures that were published in the Federal Register on April 15, 2009. EPA has submitted the following Information Collection Request to the Office of Management and Budget for review and approval in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.):  ‘‘ICR Addendum for the Second List of Chemicals; Tier 1 Screening of Certain Chemicals Under the Endocrine Disruptor Screening Program (EDSP)’’ (EPA ICR No. 2488.01,OMB Control No. 2070—[new]). If OMB approves it, then this ICR will amend an EDSP ICR that is currently approved under OMB Control No. 2070–0176 (EPA ICR No. 2249) and that covers the first list of chemicals. On June 25-28, 2013, EPA’s EDSP SAP will meet to consider and review Scientific Issues Associated with the proposed EDSP Tier 2 Ecotoxicity Tests. EPA’s Charge Questions for this SAP are available at www.regulations.gov as Document ID EPA-HQ-OPP-2013-0182-0003 .
