VA: Department of Veterans Affairs
The VA implements President Lincoln's pledge: "to care for him who shall have borne the battle for his widow and orphan." In the short period between 1999 and 2003, outpatient visits to VA facilities have increased from 38 million to 50 million visits per year. During this time period, and for many previous years, investments have not been made to either upgrade for new treatment technologies or for the increase in usage.

The VA has developed a multi-year, comprehensive plan for upgrading the care for veterans, it is called the CARE program. Read this program and other programs of benefit to veterans.
