NMFS Seeks Comment on Hawaiian False Killer Whale Recovery Plan

The National Marine Fisheries Service has published Federal Register notice of NMFS’ intent to prepare a recovery plan for the Main Hawaiian Islands insular false killer whale distinct population segment. NMFS is required by the Endangered Species Act to develop and implement recovery plans for the conservation and survival of federally listed species unless the Secretary of the Department of Commerce finds that such a plan will not promote the conservation of the species.  All information on in response to this Federal Register notice must be by NMFS received no later than November 1, 2013.
