EPA Likely to Extend Comment Period On Biotech TSCA Rulemaking
On November 15,2004, EPA issued an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on the application of the Toxic Substances Control Act to the manufacture, sale and use of enzymes. Comments are currently due December 15, but sources indicate that EPA is likely to extend the comment period for at least another 30 days. The TSCA enzyme rulemaking may impact a number of difficult emerging biotech regulatory issues, including regulation of nanotechnology products.
