EPA Publishes Human Testing Rule
The EPA published its controversial final human testing rule on February 6, 2006. The rule is effective on April 7, 2006. According to EPA, the rule "significantly strengthens and expands the protections for subjects of ‘third-party' human research (i.e., research that is not conducted or supported by EPA...." In particular, the rule prohibits "new research involving intentional exposure of pregnant women or children, intended for submission to EPA under the pesticide laws...."
