GAO Reports On EPA Risk Assessment Process
Senate environment committee chairmen James Inhofe (R-OK) asked the Government Accounting Office to survey and report on EPA’s risk assessment processes. The GAO recently issued its report entitled Human Health Risk Assessment: EPA Has Taken Steps to Strengthen Its Process, but Improvements Needed in Planning, Data Development, and Training (May 2006). GAO recommends that EPA “embrace early planning of each risk assessment, identify and communicate data needs to the public and private community, and support development and implementation of in-depth training and implementation for risk assessors and managers.”
