You Get What You Pay For
Federal judges and cabinet secretaries make less now than they did in 1970 when one adjusts for inflation. This is one of the conclusions in the Government Accounting Office report Human Capital: Trends in Executive and Judicial Pay (June 22, 2006). Cabinet secretary pay has declined almost 27% since 1970. By contrast, the GAO concluded that high-level federal employees and government-employed scientists make more than they did in 1970.
