NHTSA's Commitment to DQA Leadership
NHTSA has a documented record of leadership in implementing the Data Quality Act. Examples of this leadership include the agency using the Federal Register to:
- Notify persons that the DQA applies to third-party data and that the agency cannot use or rely on comments or other information that does not comply with OMB and DOT Data Quality guidelines; and
- Certify that the agency has complied with their predissemination review requirement to ensure that information meets DQA standards prior to being released.
NHTSA has the opportunity to further demonstrate their commitment to Data Quality and achieving their safety mission by including a discussion of the of the agency's predissemination review process when publishing; their final Model Impaired Driving Records Information System guidelines, and all future proposed and final agency actions.
