USDA Biotech Committee Meets In December
The Department of Agriculture has announced the fourteenth meeting of its Advisory Committee on Biotechnology and 21st Century Agriculture, also known as the AC21 Committee. This Committee will meet all day December 14 and 15, at USDA in Washington, D.C. The USDA must receive written requests to make oral presentations at least three business days before the meeting.
The charge for the AC21 is two-fold: to examine the long-term impacts of biotechnology on the U.S. food and agriculture system and on USDA; and to provide guidance to USDA on pressing individual issues, identified by the Office of the Secretary, related to the application of biotechnology in agriculture
The USDA also requests nominations for membership on the AC21 Committee. The USDA must receive the nominations no later than December 11, 2006.
