EPA Announces Pesticides Meetings
On March 17, 2010, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency published Federal Register notice that the Agency is holding a 2-day meeting of the Association of American Pesticide Control Officials/State FIFRA Issues Research and Evaluation Group, Environmental Quality Issues Working Committee. The meeting will begin on April 26, 2010, and end April 27, 2010. The tentative agenda topics are

  1. Pentachlorophenol-use and disposal of treated articles

  2. Interpreting drinking water detections of pesticides

  3. NPDES Permitting-an update

  4. Evaluating Risks from Semi-Volatile Pesticides

  5. Region 5 Benchmark Development/OPP/OW Risk Assessment Harmonization-an update

  6. Residential risk assessment

  7. Endocrine Disruption Screening Program

  8. POINTS-an update

  9. Revisions to Worker Risk Assessment

  10. OPP/OECA Program-an update

  11. Endangered Species Protection-an update

  12. Petition to protect children-EPA response

  13. Drift PRN-an update and response to comments

  14. National Lake Survey

  15. EPA to disclosure of inert ingredients-an update
This meeting is open for the public to attend. You may attend the meeting without further notification.

The open meeting will be held at EPA, One Potomac Yard (South Bldg.), 2777 Crystal Dr., Arlington, VA., First Floor, South Conference Room.

    On March 19, 2010, EPA published Federal Register notice that the Agency is holding a two-day meeting of the Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee on April 29 and 30, 2010. EPA's notice explains that a draft agenda is under development that will include reports from and discussions about current issues from the following PPDC work groups: Work Group on 21st Century Toxicology/New Integrated Testing Strategies; Work Group on Web-Distributed Labeling; and Work Group on Comparative Safety Statements for Pesticide Product Labeling.

    Discussion topics will also cover National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit issues regarding pesticides and current Endangered Species Act issues. PPDC work group meetings are also being scheduled and are open to the public. The PPDC PRIA Process Improvements Work Group will meet on April 28, 2010, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Information about all PPDC work group meetings can be found on EPA's website at: http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/ppdc.

    The meeting will be held in the Conference Center on the lobby level at EPA's location at 1 Potomac Yard South, 2777 S. Crystal Drive, Arlington, VA.

    PPDC meetings are open to the public and seating is available on a first-come basis. Persons interested in attending do not need to register in advance of the meeting. Comments may be made during the public comment session of each meeting or in writing.
