BOEM Publishes 5-Year Plan for OCS Oil and Gas
On July 13, 2012, the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management published its Proposed Final Five Year OCS Oil and Gas Leasing Program for 2012–2017. At the same time, BOEM published a Notice of Availability of its Final Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement for its Proposed Plan. Pursuant to section 18 of the OCS Lands Act, BOEM also submitted its Proposed Plan to the President and Congress. After a period of at least 60 days from the date it was submitted to the President and Congress, the Secretary of the Department of the Interior may approve the Plan, and it can go into effect.
