President Trump issues Memorandum on National Spectrum Policy
On October 25, 2018, President Trump issued a memorandum on "Developing a Sustainable Spectrum Strategy for America's Future." This Presidential Memorandum states the "policy of the United States to use radiofrequency spectrum (spectrum) as efficiently and effectively as possible to help meet our economic, national security, science, safety, and other Federal mission goals now and in the future." It requires the Office of Science and Technology Policy--working in coordination with OMB, the Department of Commerce, and other federal government entities--to prepare and issue a series of reports relevant to implementation of the national spectrum policy. This Presidential Memorandum also revokes the Presidential Memoranda of June 28, 2010 (Unleashing the Wireless Broadband Revolution) and June 14, 2013 (Expanding America's Leadership in Wireless Innovation).
