FWS Announces Public Meeting on US Negotiating Positions at CITES Meeting
On April 9, 2007, the US Fish and Wildlife Service will hold a public meeting to discuss the US s negotiating positions at the fourteenth regular meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The CITES meeting will be held in The Hague, The Netherlands, June 3-15, 2007.

The FWS public meeting will be held in Washington, D.C., at the Rachel Carson Room in the Department of the Interior at 18th and C Streets, NW, Washington, D.C. The FWS requests that written comments on the US's negotiating positions be received by the FWS no later than April 23, 2007.

The FWS Federal Register notice of the public meeting provides links to the CITES meeting agenda. Among the agenda items are Japanese issues regarding cetaceans.
