Philip Morris Korea: data suggests IQOS is 90% safer than regular cigs

Last Tuesday, at a news conference at Four Seasons Hotel in Gwanghwamun, central Seoul, Philip Morris Korea released their latest research results suggesting that their Heat-not-Burn device, iQOS, contains 90% fewer toxic chemicals than regular cigarettes.

The tobacco company is planning to release the full study, including all the raw data by next June. In the meantime said Mikael Franzon, senior medical adviser to Philip Morris International, Philip Morris Korea is conducting further testing on animals to get a clearer picture as to how many of the risks iQOS actually removes.

According to the data released so far, the device reduces 90% out of the 58 toxic chemicals, found in cigarettes, which as per FDA labeling include 18 hazardous compounds and 15 carcinogenic compounds.
