Sometimes you can’t begrudge the American people for tuning out the policy debates in our nation’s capital. The real day-to-day concerns facing main street America and our nation’s entrepreneurs often differ widely from what you hear on the campaign trail or on cable news. But make no mistake, our elected officials make decisions that profoundly affect our daily lives. One of those decisions could disseminate an entire industry if it’s not corrected.

Vaping is an effective method for many people who want to quit smoking. I see it every day in my business—we’re helping people quit tobacco, and I have no doubt we’re helping save lives.

The New York Times Highlights U.S. Officials’ Irrational Hostility Toward E-Cigarettes

By portraying vaping as a public health menace, the government promotes misconceptions that deter smokers from quitting.

New York Times science reporter Sabrina Tavernise highlights the tendency of American public health officials to view e-cigarettes as a threat rather than an opportunity, even though vaping offers a much less dangerous alternative to smoking. “A growing number of scientists and policy makers say the relentless portrayal of e-cigarettes as a public health menace, however well intentioned, is a profound disservice to the 40 million American smokers who could benefit from the devices,” she writes.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Those campaigning with the national “Right to Vape Tour” are urging U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and members of West Virginia’s congressional delegation to reject the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s regulatory war on vaping.

Local company stakes out spot in vaping industry

GAYLORD — Its product line provides an alternative to smoking, but a Gaylord company itself has lit up through the past several years when it comes to sales.

Purebacco is part of the vaping industry, which provides “e-liquids” — made up of varying amounts of nicotine, assorted flavorings and other ingredients — to be heated into an inhalable form in personal vaporizers, often penlike in shape. Established roughly five years ago, the company focused on the hardware side early but has shifted its attention to producing e-liquids, which have been sold with brand names such as FlavorZ. Purebacco’s name is a shorthand reference for a purified tobacco experience.
