Cyd Macomber owns and runs the shop. Vapes and e-liquids, the flavorful concoctions that offer the nicotine buzz (unless the blend is nicotine free), became a passion when her husband, who used to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day for 30 years, weaned himself of his habit through e-cigarettes.

Loudoun’s vape shop and e-liquid production community is unique, she said, as one which is supportive despite the competitive market. There are at least eight shops in the county that collaborate on quality vape liquids and devices and trends in the industry.

From: Vapor Vanity

As an article from the Wall Street Journal recently pointed out, vaping is on a potentially perilous collision course with a litany of regulations that threaten to completely shut it down.  The most notable threat, of course, is the potential upcoming FDA regulations. These regulations may be released as soon as this summer.

However, a much more subtle and nuanced layer of attacks are coming a variety of local, state and federal governmental entities.  These include outrageous taxes, bans on where people can vape, and the type of gear they can buy.

The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association (CASAA) Podcast

From: CASAA

CASAA’s Jan Johnson and Alex Clark discuss legislative- and advocacy-related matters of current interest to CASAA members and THR (tobacco harm reduction) advocates.

0:20 – FederalAppropriations bill (p. 86) introduced in the House Appropriations Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration and Related Agencies Subcommittee would prohibit FDA from enforcing the February 15, 2007 grandfather date for newly deemed tobacco products (including e-cigarettes), move grandfather date to issuance of Final Rule for Deeming Regulation (allowing newly deemed tobacco and e-cigarette products now on the market to remain legal, but require FDA approval of premarket tobacco applications (PMTAs) for new products after Final Rule issuance). (See here for a brief discussion of the bill.) This is a similar approach as that offered by HR 2058. We now have two bills that would benefit consumers (and the diverse vapor industry) in the House at this time. Mark-up will be before the full committee on Thursday (June 25, 2015).
