(HealthDay News) — Former tobacco smokers find e-cigarettes less addictive than traditional cigarettes, new research finds.

Even though they “smoke” e-cigarettes as often as they did regular cigarettes, thousands of ex-smokers said they have fewer cravings and are less likely to feel impulsive and irritable over their need to smoke, researchers reported.

Study: E-cigarettes helping people stop, reduce smoking

Raleigh, N.C. — More teens now prefer electronic cigarettes over traditional cigarettes, according to an annual government drug use survey. Another study has now added to the evidence that electronic cigarettes can help stop or reduce smoking.

E-cigarettes are battery-powered devices that produce a vapor. Some contain nicotine. New research out of London says smokers who use them may be more likely to reduce their smoking or quit altogether.

Mark Foster recently picked up electronic cigarettes and says he’s close to kicking his regular cigarette habit.

Just 3% of adults are using e-cigarettes but almost all are current smokers or those who had given up, according to a new NHS survey of people’s health and lifestyles.

The disclosure further allays fears voiced by some doctors and health campaigners that “vaping” could attract non-smokers who then get hooked on traditional cigarettes containing nicotine.

Too stringent regulations are believed to give an opportunity for ecigarette black market to rise. This is a possibility that has been proven and observed from the combustible cigarettes.

According to Carl V. Philips, anti-tobacco movement is essentially unethical and dishonest; possibly led by minimally-skilled people isolating themselves in a way that scientific reviews are avoided. Among the fundamental failures of the anti-tobacco movement is the belief that bans will eliminate the supply although there is massive demand. They lie is that tobacco products market is created by suppliers and not by consumers demanding the products. In reality, products existing now will not cease to exist, but will actually result to a far less regulated and riskier market than the current state of things.

Last week, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) updated its regulatory calendar, including a small update to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) planned regulations of tobacco products under the Family Smoking and Tobacco Control Act. Post update, the proposed rule now lists a date of “06/00/2015” for “Final Action.” Many have taken to accepting as a deadline on when the FDA must act regarding the proposed regulation of premium cigars, something that isn’t really true.
