NIST released two draft documents for comments today:
NIST Special Publication 800-94 Revision 1 (Draft), “Guide to Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS)” by Karen Scarfone and Peter Mell attached here.
NIST Special Publications 800-83, Revision 1 (Draft), “Guide to Malware Incident Prevention and Handling for Desktops and Laptops” by Murugiah Souppaya and Karen Scarfone attached here.
NIST notes that the Guide to Malware Incident Prevention and Handling for Desktops and Laptops “is a supplement to another draft document, Computer Security Incident Handling Guide (SP 800-61). … The revised version of SP 800-61 is expected to be published later this summer.”
- Comments on the draft Guide to Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems should be sent to 800-94comments AT nist.gov by August 31.
- Comments on the draft Guide to Malware Incident Prevention and Handling for Desktops and Laptops should be sent to 800-83comments AT nist.gov by August 31.
NIST also released Interagency Report 7864, “The Common Misuse Scoring System (CMSS): Metrics for Software Feature Misuse Vulnerabilities” by Elizabeth LeMay, Karen Scarfone, and Peter Mell attached here.
