Sen. Mike San Nicolas on Wednesday sent an updated request to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, asking it to investigate what he called possible tobacco smuggling by Mid Pacific Distributors Inc.
The request was prompted by a July 16 legislative hearing, during which the Department of Revenue and Taxation confirmed that $14.7 million in tax liens against MidPac are related to unpaid tobacco taxes.
