Virginia business owner ordered to forfeit $14.3 million for cigarette smuggling

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – A Clear Brook, Va. business owner was sentenced Wednesday to two years and six months in federal prison and ordered to forfeit $14.2 million for unlawful cigarette smuggling.

Chief U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh also ordered Charanjit Singh, also known as Tony Chawla, 61, of Wilmington, Del., to pay a $30,000 fine, Assistant U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Bernard announced Wednesday in a news release.
