A New York state man was caught on Interstate 81 in Augusta County on Tuesday allegedly transporting more than 600 cartons of cigarettes.
Ouafa Jindyeh, 46, of Staten Island, New York, initially told an Augusta County Sheriff’s deputy at the northbound Mount Sidney rest stop on 81 that cargo in his van was honey and he was returning the packages to a friend, said Lt. Aaron LeVeck of the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office. Jindyeh was traveling between North Carolina and New York.
