Mexican Navy Seizes 10 million Vietnamese Cigarettes

Mexico City  • The Secretary of Mexican Navy said 10.5 million smuggled Vietnamese cigarettes  were seized during an operation in Manzanillo, Colima, in coordination with the federal authorities and tax administration service.

The discovery of the cigarettes was being audited TIMSA, S.A. de C.V., in the interior of the container number MSCU 9070535, embarked at Balboa, Panama, transported aboard the vessel “Atlantic Voyager”, flag of Antigua and Barbuda, from Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacan, bound for Mazatlán, Sinaloa.

According to the documentation, the ship was transporting aluminum pans, which were only at the front, which were hiding the illegal goods in 50 thousand boxes, each of which contained 10 thousand pieces.

The boxes and their contents do not have the permission of the secretariats of the economy or health for legal import. The insured goods was placed at the disposal of the public prosecutor.
