MUSCAT — The Royal Oman Police ROP has foiled the smuggling of diesel fuel abroad via Al Rowdha border checkpoint. The smugglers were using 12 trucks carrying local and GCC number plates. The operation, carried out by Al Buraimi Governorate’s Customs Department, showed that the vehicles were fitted with additional tanks where the diesel was hidden. A similar smuggling bid, this time cigarettes, was halted by Wadi al Jizzi Customs Department. A large quantity of faked cigarette was discovered hidden artfully inside a vehicle on its way to the Sultanate via the checkpoint. Meanwhile, Al Duqm Police Station foiled an attempt to transport abroad three intruders of Arab nationality who entered the Sultanate illegally. The illegal immigrants admitted having agreed with a driver and his aide to take them abroad against cash payment.
