BEIRUT: The Lebanese Army arrested two people allegedly involved in smuggling large quantities of cigarettes into the country, the military said Tuesday.
“An Army unit raided yesterday [Monday] a number of warehouses in the Bekaa [Valley] where it was able to confiscate large quantities of smuggled cigarette boxes of different brands,” a statement by the Army said.
“In addition, the Army confiscated individual arms and military equipment and arrested two people who were owners of some of the warehouses.”
It added that the men were referred to the Military Police and said an investigation has been launched.
