Today would have been the 66th birthday of Adolfo Bresciano, aka Dino Bravo. Bravo won the JCP version of the NWA World Tag Team Championships in the 1970s teaming with “Mr. Wrestling” Tim Woods and won the Canadian heavyweight title from Gene Kinski, but would have his biggest success as “Canada’s Strongest Man” and later “The World’s Strongest Man”, feuding with such competitors as Don Muraco, Ron Garvin, and Ultimate Warrior. Bravo also teamed with fellow Canadian John Tenta, aka Earthquake for a brief period. After retiring in 1992, he became a wrestling trainer in his native Montreal. Bravo was murdered in his home in March 1993, allegedly by Canadian mafia involved in illegal cigarette smuggling. The gruesome murder (he was shot 17 times) has never been officially solved. Bravo was just 44.
