The Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs Council has approved a draft law to allow the Six Nations’ tobacco industry to self-regulate as a way to combat new laws criminalizing unregulated tobacco trafficking.
The confederacy voted Feb. 7 to approve the draft law, details of which have not been made public, and send it to clan families on Six Nations for feedback.
A public meeting with details of the draft law is being planned for some time in March.
